This pattern intrigued me.
I usually choose patterns because I fall in love with them at first sight and must cast on immediately.
This time it wasn't the actual sweater I loved as much as the construction and method of the pattern.

As I am in a stash busting modes, I used the only dk stuff I had on hand which is Berroco Comfort dk.
Nice stuff. But very, very splity. Even more so than Berroco's Weekend.

You start with the bottom corner, work your way up the border then pick up stitches for the body.

I do like this cardi.
But, ya never know sometimes how you're gonna like it in the end.

I had a couple skeins of this in the stash so now it's put to good use.

Can't wait to see it finished.

Switched up some things. Mainly photos and added a comfier chair for my reading comfy-ness.
Photography is hard.
Some think it's just point and shoot.
The part of the image I see and want to capture for the picture, and what I end up with, are not always the same. And even, sometimes, really different.
There must be a knack.

I can also see that I need to clean my window(s).

This is my crazy. At least, for me. So far.

I'm doing this shawl, that requires knitting with two needle sizes simultaneously.

Harbinger

Garter stitches working up a bit shorter than stockinette, hence the two sizes of needles so you have little or no puckering.
Also, two other sock patterns on needles, Business Casual, and the KAL I'm doing with the Malabrigio sock.

I'm really eying another pattern to throw on some needles. Or, do a gauge swatch.
For this Demalangeni Shawl.

With this very nice skein of Ella rae Lace Merino. Can't wait to see how it swatches up.

I think I sorta know how he feels.

Well, not really.

Had to frog, yet again, to start of heel.
I read the chart wrong, again.
Not used to working from charts. Ha.
Note to self, read the small print next to each of the symbols.
Knit on rs, purl on ws, stuff like that.
*sigh*
So, I persevere.

Cruising around my knit blogs this morning, I ran across this pattern and immediately knew (read; think, hope, pray) that it would be very flattering for moi.

Such great lines and possibilities, no?

So, I go on.

Yeah, I'm thinking of doing a shawl pretty soon. Try my hand at the lace thing. But I do think I prefer less lace and more texture. As you can probably guess from the patterns I've choosen.
Warmer, too.
After having no power for almost two days, I'm all about the warmer.

Also makes for an interesting stitch pattern for a scarf or cowl.

I've been wanting to try this pattern for arch shaped socks for a while now. I bet they're comfy.

Guess I better get to it.

So, we've been without power for almost 48 hours due to a big storm that hit the PNW. Lots of snow. Well, for us, anyway. Some places got 10".
Really snarled things up.
Then we had some freezing rain. Lots of that, too.
Then, we lost power. And it was cold. Then, it got windy.
First time I'd ever slept not only with all my clothes on, but my jacket, scarf, and a hat.
I was warm and I slept great. The rest was not fun.
But, it's over, the juice is back on and all is back to normal.
Well, except for the clean up.

This is just part of the clean-up.

These are just pretty. Now.

My daughters got very creative.

I have been doing a lot of socks recently, so it's been a blast to do something different like a mystery sock.
Not knowing what the pattern would like, I love this color way from malabrigo.

Losing someone you love. Just writing the words brings me back to the day I arrived back at the Hospice when my husband met me outside with the little stuffed felt heart that I had tucked into my son's hand with a kiss and a promise that I would be back very soon.
I knew that he was gone.
And so began another journey that Cancer had begun three years ago.
I've always believed and even counseled other women, that God will not bring you to something that He will not bring you through.

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

I Thes 4:13-14

I miss him every day. But I am so glad that his suffering is over. I'm glad he is in a place were there are no more tears.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Rev 21:4

But most importantly, and certainly, most comforting, I'm so certain and confident in the knowledge that we will be together one day.
More difficult than my grief, as a mother, watching his sister, brother, and dad, deal with this loss.
Hoping and praying that God's strength, their faith, would be there for them as much as I wanted it for them. That comfort.

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

And, so, we go on. I go on. I still cry and have 'those' moments.
It's ok though. My friends have drawn close. Even if it's just to remember all of us in prayer.
That is a huge blessing to us.

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Chop yourself up some nice white chocolate.
Toast up some sliced almonds.
Mix up the other stuff. To include chopping up some crystallized ginger.

Shape your logs.

Bake, cool a bit, slice and re-bake.

And you will end up with the world's best White Chocolate, Ginger, Almond Biscotti.

Guaranteed. World famous. Well, in my world, anyway.
It's a very easy recipe, just gimme a holler if you'd like it.
