All the coffee in Columbia won't make me a morning person.

Ya know what's good? I mean, really good...

Pork Loin with Apples & Squash.

Seriously.

Photobucket
Mix 2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced, 1 large Butternut Squash peeled and cubed, 1/2 C brown sugar, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 dried thyme, and 1/4 tsp sage.
Brown a 3 to 5lb Pork Loin on all sides in a heavy skillet.  Salt and pepper the Loin thoroughly and  place is slow cooker and put the apple/squash mixture around.  Add the juices.  I de-glazed the skillet with a bit of added apple juice to make more juices.
Photobucket
Pour 1 cup of apple juice, or so, over everything, slap the lid down and cook on low for 5 to 8 hours, depending on the size of your roast.  Mine was an almost 5 lb'er so she cooked for about 7 hours and was the most delicious thing I've eaten in a while.

Invite some folks over.
Bask in the glory that will be yours.

Look deeply into my eyes.  You want to go and open a can of tuna..er, seafood delight...and serve me....now...do it now...witless human...serve me.....

Photobucket

Yes.  I am in a drawer.  This is mine.  Go find your own.

Oh, and I am a salsa master.
Ok...maybe I just made some salsa.
Or, I'm fixin' to..as they say :)

Happy Friday

Photobucket

Candy Corn mixed with dry roasted peanuts.
Sorta tastes like a payday.  Not the felted one :)
I still have to make an I-cord swirly vine thingy for that.

Photobucket

I have a head cold.  It's not nearly as bad as it was on Wednesday, the first day.
I made a pot of White Lightening.
It's a white, loose leaf tea.  I drank a whole pot of it last night.
I actually got a work out in today.  It wasn't great, but between the workout and the tea, I feel soooo much better.
I can actually breathe outta my nose!
Small victories are still victories, none the less!
Have an awesome weekend!

Have ya heard our anthem sung like this yet?

It was worth it, huh.

And, yes I'm running tomorrow.  Some how, some way I'll fit it in.
Poor guy over there is getting bored.

Lookin' like fall around here....

Photobucket

You can't even tell I ran over this pumpkin...ha! Uh, with a big 'ol SUV, no less.
Gotta love a fake punky!

These are getting planted today

Photobucket
On the right is a Paperbark Maple.  One of the most beautiful for fall foliage color, in my humble opinion.  The other is a Katsura.  Beautiful fall, gold color.  The last is a variegated willow variety, usually seen in shrub form, like the pic below.
I love the color so much, I got this one grafted in tree form.

And I'm trying my hand at refinishing this

I sorta can't believe I really want to paint this black.  A flat black.  Ok, maybe I'd better consider a satin finish?
If you've got thoughts, or done this before please, please, let me know!
All I've ever done is taken stuff down a bit (sanded) and then re-stained.  Never painted before.
I can't wait to get this finished as  all the things that are going in this hutch are taking up waaaay to much space in a bedroom that I need to get to work on as well.
Sometimes, it feels like I'll never get it all done or that it'll take forever.
Then, I just pinch myself and realize how lucky I am to have any of this in the first place~!
Not to mention, how much fun it is :)
Thank-you, Lord.

A dog & her duck.

Shall not be separated.  Especially,  during nap time when mom and dad are at church.  I love how she's hugging it.

Her heinous...

Being regal.

And...

Apparently, reading make her sleepy, too.
A blessed Sunday to everyone!  And.....It's fall y'all~!!  Get yer pumpkin on :D

So, the hubs and I continued our quest to find the perfect tiles for the back splashes for the kitchen.  We're also on the hunt for the perfect sconces for the hallway.  They have to be black.
I'm gonna check out some online sources here and see what I can't find.

Anyhoo, we make it back from a last stop at the grocery w/o doing too badly $$- wise, seeing as how I was pushing the cart and nearly drooling from hunger.

I made this when I got home.

Hubby felt more like this

The biscuits I talked about in the previous post are even great a couple days later.  I wrapped 'em in foil, heated at 400*, for about 15min, and wha~la...with a bit of ham or roast beef and a dab of mayo...hit the spot!
